2009 Formula Drift Round 5 with Falken Tire

falkentire.com Music by Hunt Club: myspace.com/huntclubmusic MONROE, WA Originally built as a horse-racing track, Evergreen Speedway saw plenty of horsepower over the weekend as Formula Drift arrived in town, with the venerable track challenging the drivers and their cars to the Breaking Point, resulting in Chris Forsberg taking the win, while Team Falkens Tyler McQuarrie finished a respectable third. Qualifying on Friday was challenging as the judges were very critical of all efforts. Nevertheless, seven drivers on Falken Azenis RT615 tires made the field, including all Team Falken factory entrants McQuarrie; Vaughn Gittin, Jr.; Darren McNamara; Daijiro Yoshihara; and Calvin Wan, plus privateers Ross Petty (who was in fact the number two qualifier) and Taka Aono. Amid tough competition all day long, two Falken drivers advanced to the Top 8 Round, as both McQuarrie and Gittin defeated their opponents to move to the Top 4. Unfortunately, Gittin was involved in a collision during this run and was unable to advance, while teammate McQuarrie lost to eventual winner Forsberg. In the battle for third overall, it was Team Falken v. Team Falken, as McQuarrie came out on top over Gittin, who was able to compete despite his accident in the previous round. The events trademark nickname, Breaking Point, lived up to its reputation as a number of entrants became casualties to the tracks banking and tight transitions throughout the course. However, McQuarries strong third place finish moved him to third overall in the Formula D Championship, while Team Falken teammate Vaughn Gittin, Jr., despite a semi-final performance, dropped to fifth, and Darren McNamara remained in sixth. August is Formula Ds busiest month, with a second event, Round 6, just two weeks away in the wine country of Northern California at famous Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, August 21-22. Team Falken will be locked and loaded when that event arrives.

Tyler McQuarrie Takes 2nd at 2009 Formula Drift Finale

After a very competitive Formula Drift season that saw Team Falken and its five factory team drivers consistently compete for the championship title amid challenging weather conditions, different tracks and configurations and strong and aggressive rivals, Judgment Day at the House of Drift, Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, CA, was no different. Once again, the legendary venue, known as the birthplace of drifting here in the U.S. played a critical role in determining who would take the Formula Drift Championship and where a Team Falken member would finish. As it turned out, it was Tyler McQuarrie and his V8-powered Nissan 350Z who took third place in the 2009 Formula Drift Championship, with an incredible 2nd place Toyota Speedway win. Vaughn Gittin, Jr., took fifth with his 2010 Mustang, while Darren McNamara finished in seventh, in the Championship. Chris Forsberg took the title for 2009, followed by Ryan Tuerck in second. Of the 48 drivers who competed in this years Formula D championship, Team Falken had seven drivers in the top 25, including factory entrant Dai Yoshihara in 11th, Falken privateers Ross Petty and Taka Aono in 13th and 14th, respectively, and final Team Falken member Calvin Wan in 23rd. Wan tried valiantly all season to move forward, but was plagued with a number of mechanical issues. Formula Drift 2009 Pro-Am Profile - Mike Pollard

http://www.videos-drift.com/ Mike Pollard was one of the few guys I wasnt very familiar with before the Formula D Pro Am Finals at Irwindale Speedway. He showed up in the best tow vehicle and drove a long haul to attend the Pro Am. His qualifying runs were amazing and he finished 2nd overall which was the highest ranked American at the Am finals. This is another great production from Jerseystreets.tv as well! http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/
