2010 Formula Drift Round 1 - Falken Tire Takes Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA The inaugural event in the 2010 Formula Drift season began with a big win for Team Falken where factory driver Vaughn Gittin, Jr., debuting his new 2011 Monster Energy Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang on the famed street course of Long Beach. Gittin, Jr., and Team Falken faced a very competitive field of entrants, totaling 53, one of the highest entry counts in the history of Formula D. Team Falken had a full complement of drivers at the popular track, the fifth year Formula D has visited Long Beach. In addition to Vaughn, rounding out the companys paddock and marketing activation areas were returning team members Daijiro Yoshihara in his rebuilt Discount Tire Nissan 240SX (S13); Tyler McQuarrie with his Nissan 350Z Convertible; and Darren McNamara, with his Saturn Sky in new Falken livery. Adding to the excitement of the weekend was the addition of several new faces to Falken including Justin Pawlak in his 2010 Ford Mustang and Formula D rookie James Deane who shocked the crowd with his aggressive driving in Falken's Nissan S15. Independent drivers on Falken Tires included Ross Petty, John Russakoff, Dean Kearney and Fredric Aasbo. 2010 will certainly be a busy year for Team Falken. Next stop, Road Atlanta.

Falken Tire 2009 Calvin Wan S15 Testing
http://www.falkentire.com When first describing Calvin Wan, a principal word could be multitasker. Calvin has already had a long and varied career in motorsports, starting in 1996, and running in such diverse series including drag racing, autocrossing, rally crossing and motorcycles. Calvin also is a SAG (Screen Actors Guild) member and has provided numerous stunt driving assignments for television commercials, print ads and movies (including Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Crank 2: High Voltage). He is a published author, too, having written Calvin Wans Drifting Performance Handbook, which is distributed by Motorbooks International. On the drifting front, the San Francisco native, who, like his neighbor and team mate up the road, Tyler McQuarrie, has spent a fair amount of time at Sonomas Infineon Raceway. He has competed in every round of the Formula Drift Championship series since its augural season in 2004, and has become a fan favorite due to his laid back style and street image.. Falken Tires officials noticed his capabilities during that first season and signed him to what has become a long-term contract, making Calvin a full-time driver for the company, driving Falken-owned works cars ever since. In 2005, Calvin made history by becoming the first driver in the Formula Drift series to win in an import car with the Falken Tire Infiniti G35. He later moved to a Mazda RX-7, and for 2009, will be piloting the new Falken Tire Nissan S15 Silvia, running on Falken Azenis RT-615 rubber. In addition to this series, the multitasker will be doing double duty in the Formula D International Demos and Team Drifting Competition events. The talented driver participates in more than 20 professional events each year and has received extensive media coverage with both national and international media outlets. When hes not driving, hes building race cars or serving as both a Drifting Judge and Instructor, holding special drifting performance clinics for private groups. Drifting and race fans alike know the name Calvin Wan, and he is highly regarded and respected by his competitors. As one of the pioneers in drifting especially in the U.S., and one of the driving forces on Team Falken, Calvin has definitely earned his reputation and stands ready once again to help take Team Falken to the top of the podium. Team Falken Rolls Dice in Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (July 13, 2009) Facing serious challenges from both competitors and the weather, Team Falken put on a valiant effort, but when it rolled the dice at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Round 4 of the demanding Formula Drift competition, the team managed to make the Semi-Finals with Falkens Tyler McQuarrie losing to eventual overall winner Tanner Foust. McQuarrie placed fourth. Falken tires were on five of the cars that qualified for the top 32. Daijiro Yoshihara, driving the much improved Lexus IS350, was the best qualifier in 5th, but slid into the barrier as he led his round. While the damage was cosmetic, he was unable to move forward. Three team members would advance to the top 16 McQuarrie, privateer Ross Petty and Gittin. Unfortunately, Gittin suffered a cut tire due to debris as he started the next round, forcing him to make major corrections to his line while he competed on his three remaining Azenis RT615 tires. McQuarrie defeated Michael Essa to move to the Top 4, and after losing to Foust, battled Chris Forsberg for third, but was unable to take the win. Valiant efforts were undertaken by all, and Team Falken remains with three drivers in the top six positions. Overall standings now place Gittin in fourth, McQuarrie, fifth, and McNamara in sixth. Team Falken will head north by northwest when Formula D meets the Breaking Point at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA, for Round 5, August 7-8. http://www.falkentire.com Stick around after the credits ;) June 8, 2009 WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ (June 8, 2009) Performance and preparation paid off as Team Falken Tires factory drivers swept the podium at Wall Speedway in Saturday nights round 3 of the 2009 Formula Drift season. Darren McNamara took the top rung in his Saturn Sky; Vaughn Gittin, Jr., earned second with his 2010 Ford Mustang GT; and Tyler McQuarrie finished third, driving his Nissan 350Z. The achievement was historical as this was the first time ever for three Team Falken cars to take the top three positions as well as the first time one team has dominated the podium. Wall Speedway, aptly named "The Gauntlet", is a 16-degree banked oval along the straightaway with 30 degrees on the turns before moving to the figure 8 infield portion of the course. The capacity crowd witnessed strong competition among Team Falken and other Formula D competitors as skies and rain cleared allowing for ideal door-to-door high speed battles. Five drivers using Falken Azenis RT615 tires advanced to the top 16. In the finals, Gittin, Jr., stood up against McNamara with McNamara ultimately taking the win in a close fought match. Following round 3, Darren advances to first in points in the overall championship, while Gittin, Jr. moves to fifth and Tyler McQuarrie moves forward to seventh place in the standings. Falken Tire would like to thank their drivers, staff, associates and fans for helping make this long standing goal a reality for their team and brand. Round 3 results truly show the capabilities of the Azenis RT-615 and their dedication to the sport of drifting. Autosport Dynamics has done an outstanding job building and preparing each of the three vehicles winning this round, and as they enjoy this historic win, they will now focus on the final four rounds of Formula D as they gun for the Championship.
