2009 Nissan 370Z Track Video

FOR THE FULL TEST: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=136547 The 2009 Nissan 370Z is lit for the cameras tonight, and the bubble of white light around it holds back the darkness of this parking lot in Los Angeles. The Z-car believers have come to see the car in its first public showing, and Randy Rodriguez is one of them. Rodriguez has come a long way to be here. Raised in British Columbia, his family ran a small gas station and car repair business and came to specialize in Nissans. His first car was a Nissan 240Z that he rebuilt with his own hands, and he's owned 10 early Zs over the years, though he's still only 31. As with all Z-car people, Rodriguez doesn't quite fit in the box where you find most car enthusiasts; he's a little out of the mainstream, a little more open to doing things differently, and a little more serious about cars in way that only someone who has had to bring old, second-hand beaters back to life can be. Rodriguez is exactly the person for whom this new Z-car is meant. Probably there's some kind of magic at work in the fact that Randy Rodriguez's day job is at Nissan Design America, and he was the one who first sketched the lines of what has become the 2009 Nissan 370Z.

Nissan 370Z Convertible Revealed @ 2009 New York Auto Show

MORE 2009 NYAS @ INSIDELINE.COM: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/autoshows/newyork/2009/index.html Nissan has yet to officially unveil the all-new 2009 Nissan 370Z coupe, and Inside Line is already providing details on the 2010 Nissan 370Z convertible. Unlike the Infiniti G37 drop top, which uses a retractable hardtop, the future 370Z convertible will incorporate a power-operated soft top. The fabric top will likely keep the new Z convertible from getting an exorbitant bump in price, and more importantly, will prevent the newly smaller Z from taking on any unnecessary pounds. The new sixth-generation Z cut its wheelbase by approximately 4 inches, so it's necessary for the convertible to keep its weight down. The 370Z convertible is expected to share a powertrain with the 370Z coupe, likely to be the same 3.7-liter Nissan VQ engine that's already providing power to the G37 coupe and sedan. A seven-speed automatic and a six-speed manual transmission will be offered, same as in the G. Although the G37 added an all-wheel-drive option this year in the form of the G37x, the 370Z will continue to use rear-wheel drive only.

Mustang v 370Z SMACKDOWN: Ford Mustang GT vs. Nissan 370Z

FULL MUSTANG V 370Z COMPARO @ INSIDELINE.COM: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=143666 When we last left the 2009 Nissan 370Z, it had just laid a drubbing on BMW's little 135i. We then proclaimed, "The 2009 Nissan 370Z raises the standard for the sport coupe segment to a new level of affordable excellence." Time to get more serious. It's V8 time. Who's in? Let's see, no Camaro, and a Challenger is not available (don't ask), so that leaves the freshly updated 2010 Ford Mustang GT, a car whose very existence is predicated upon wallet-friendly performance. Perhaps a reinvigorated veteran can take down the newly crowned king. The particulars might differ — four seats versus two, V8 versus V6 — but the mission is the same. And the 2009 Nissan 370Z and 2010 Ford Mustang GT are priced closer than you might think.
